Flipkart started as a small online bookstore run by two former Amazon employees from a Bengaluru apartment. What began with a single book order grew into one of India's most recognised shopping destinations, eventually attracting billions in investments from global retail players.

Flipkart was built by two close friends who shared a vision of making online shopping truly accessible right across India. Both founders studied at the same institution and worked at the same company before quitting to build what became one of India's most recognised e-commerce brands.

In 2018, one of the biggest deals in Indian retail history took place when a global brick-and-mortar powerhouse paid around 16 billion dollars for a controlling stake in Flipkart. The deal marked a turning point in how global retailers viewed India's fast-growing consumer market.

Flipkart launched its own electronics accessories brand to offer buyers affordable alternatives to expensive third-party options. The brand covers products including cables, chargers, and laptop bags, and remains exclusively available on Flipkart's own platform for its registered customers.

To reduce dependence on third-party couriers, Flipkart built its own delivery network from the ground up. This in-house logistics arm handles millions of shipments across India, operating warehouses and last-mile delivery to ensure faster and more reliable order fulfilment for customers.
